I just heard about Make It Right, an effort by Brad Pitt to focus media and money on the Ninth Ward, the New Orleans neighborhood most devastated by Hurricane Katrina and the failure of the levees.
In 2005 I organized a student trip to New Orleans to help with the recovery. It was a life-changing experience. Tennessee Crowbar Krewe is the blog that documents that trip.
Brad Pitt’s project uses giant pink house parts to dramatize the damage in the Ninth Ward and to raise funds to rebuild in this neighborhood. Check out this interview with Entertainment Tonight. The richly interactive site includes video, animation, text and photos to invite users to donate money for specific home parts. You can spend $5 for a light bulb or $150,000 for a house.
