Absolute Concept

absolutparissm.jpgToday in Design II we discussed concepts in advertising. Typically conceptualual advertising and graphic design juxtapose images and ideas in unexpected ways for shock or humor value. This Absolut ad does that by illustrating an Art Neuveau Metro station in Paris in the shape of the iconic vodka bottle. It’s simple, it’s memorable, and it’s been repeated in thousands of ways to build the Absolute brand. Here’s a nice web site by Grapefruit Design that archives many of these ads.

After a brief discussion, we took 15 minutes to concept and thumbnail poster promotions to conserve water during drought conditions such as we have had this year. We had lots of great ideas in sketches in a short amount of time.
