Erik Spiekermann on Helvetica

Posted by: opendoordesign | June 10, 2007 | No Comment |

I saw the Helvetica movie in Nashville last weekend, and really enjoyed it. I have told students that to me using Helvetica is like walking into an ice cream shop and ordering vanilla. After watching Heletica though, I’m getting a taste for vanilla. Here’s a clip of designer and typographer Erik Spiekermann talking about Helvetica. Notice how he challenges the “innate redability” of the typeface. AIGA is bringing Helvetica to Knoxville in the fall.
