pbr.jpgThe IntentContent conference begins this Thursday, and I’m packing my skivvies. My iHonkytonk podcast is ready to put on your iPod. Also, here are some last-minute travel tips for things to do in Nashville—my hometown.

I Can’t Stop Loving You: Ray Charles and Country Music
Scot Danforth told me about this one, via UT Press designer Kelly Gray. I’m a huge Ray Charles fan, and hope to catch this one at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Hatch Show Print
This historic letterpress poster shop is not to be missed. They’re giving us a special open house on Thursday evening. In the meantime, take the 360º Tour of Hatch on the web.

Matisse, Picasso, and the School of Paris: Masterpieces from The Baltimore Museum of Art
This exhibit of modern masters at the Frist ends this Sunday. Fans should see it this weekend.

Van Vechten Gallery of Fisk University
The Steiglitz art collection is right here in Nashville, donated by Georgia O’Keefe. It has works by Cézanne, Picasso, Rivera, Renoir, Marin, Marsden Hartley, Charles Demuth, Arthur Dove, and of course O’Keefe herself. According to the web site the gallery is open 10-5 Tuesday-Friday during the week, 1-5 Saturdays, and is closed Sundays in the summer. Here’s an article about the collection from the Tennessee Encyclopedia of History and Culture, by my friends over at UT Press.

Roberts Western World
I featured Roberts in my podcast, iHonkytonk 1.0. Esquire featured them as one of America’s best bars last year. Friday night: David Tanner and the Honky Tonk-O-Rama. Friday and Saturday: Brazilbilly. Get yer twang on!
