Great news! I found out last week that my paper on open source design projects has been accepted for the AIGA IntentContent conference next month in Nashville. The paper is called, “Holy Open Source Batman! Crime-fighting Projects, Tools & Resources for Design Educators.”
The paper includes some basic background on the evolution of the open source culture and documents two projects I’m currently teaching in my courses. The oldest is the technically challenging Project Gutenberg book designs that I’ve been teaching for two years. The newer project is LibriVox audio book packaging that I began developing last summer. Both projects design for public domain text and audio content. Download a PDF of the paper here. (Photo by Richard Harvey.)
