Thinkmap’s Visual Thesaurus makes words blossom. And unlike the eye candy found on many Flash sites, this Thinkmap’s visuals add meaning as well as style. I stumbled onto the site when I googled Thesaurus and clicked on a banner ad. I was intrigued.
I type ” hot” into the search blank and hit return. After a pause, the the word “hot” appears onscreen, surrounded by two circles of red dots blossoming with words like “radioactive,” “fast,” “fresh,” “sexy,” “illegal,” and more. One of the inner spokes in the wheel was extended from the 5 o’clock position, with the words “white-hot,” “emotionality,” “torrid,” “sizzling,” sultry,” and “sensual.”
This site is perfect for brainstorming images, themes, and headlines. The word maps are available on t-shirts and coffee mugs too.
